Hiatus

Hello.

This blog is on a hiatus at the moment while I try and figure out exactly what I want to do with it. Not that there's all that much here at the moment anyway. I might be blogging for work, or doing something different entirely. That's why there's no new content.

Carry on.

You Saved 9 Cents. Good Job.

After reading the news that Circuit City would be closing their stores and liquidating their inventory, I decided to pop by the Valencia store Saturday afternoon to see what kind of discounts they were offering and scope out an external hard drive- I've been wanting to add some portable storage to our home server for awhile.

What a freaking madhouse! I've never seen that store that busy- if they had just been able to attract one tenth of that foot traffic under normal operation, I imagine they'd still be in business. (note to self for future reference: you have a phone with a camera. Take a picture next time so your readers can see what you're writing about. Also, don't assume you have "readers." You're the only one reading this blog at this point, skippy. Also, quit talking to yourself.)

Anyway, they were offering a pretty hefty discount on the drive, so I picked it up and hopped in one of the ridiculously long lines to check out. I imagine a good chunk of the staff had already lost their jobs, because there seemed to be only a handful of people able to process sales. I stood in line for over 45 minutes to buy my drive but the amount of money I saved made it worth my while.

The guy in front of me, however, is a different story. He waited nearly an hour to get up to the counter... and then purchased a $4.99 DVD for 30% off. His savings? A whopping $1.50.

Way to go, chief.

Last Night's Dream

Pretty vivid one last night. About 8 of my friends (including Jon Dell from your Hometown Station) and I had apparently joined the Army, and were on our way to Iraq (I think; it was never explicitly stated) for training. We get to the training area in the middle of a barren desert and in the dream I am still unclear on details- like, where my equipment is, how long we are supposed to be there, etc. So everyone else is setting up camp while I am fumbling around trying to find a helmet and other forms of basic protection, when a realization hits me. If Jon and I are both here, who the hell is going to help cover at KHTS in the event of an emergency? I approach Jon and mention this to him, and we both have a kind of "oh crap!" moment.

Then I wake up.

David Eckstein

The Padres announced today that they've signed infielder David Eckstein to a one-year contract.

He has a very incentive-laden contract. He gets the following bonuses:

$100,000 for each base hit out of the infield

$200,000 for each throw from second to first without wincing

$1,000,000 for every home run over 1

(If you don't follow baseball or if you've never heard of David Eckstein, then you won't find the above very funny. But trust me. It is FREAKING HILARIOUS.)

First Blog Post: An Introduction

Hello. I'm Jason. This is my blog.

Sorry about the length- I'll try and keep them a bit more brief in the future.
